SCHEDULE 2012
From July 30 to August 17

Summer School at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal

When you are registered for a DEC in contemporary dance, the school year generally ends at the end of May and the following one only begins at the end of August, which means there is a three-month break. The École de danse contemporaine is of the opinion that a young dancer who has opted to undertake intensive dance training would be seriously disadvantaged by such an extended break. For this reason, summer training courses are mandatory for all students registered in the DEC in professional training for the duration of the three years of the program. Please note: All students are required to pay each summer school fees of $545.

Summer School lasts three weeks and is generally scheduled so that students have one week to rest before starting the fall session. The courses are centered around two activities: technique classes and workshops.

Technique Classes

The technique classes in contemporary dance ensure that the student gets back in shape gradually. The student is responsible for being at his/her maximal physical shape and technical level for the beginning of the fall session and his/her continued training. Dance-related physical training may also be added.

Workshops

Certain workshops such as Bouffon, Singing, Theatre, Voice and Movement, Art and Movement, Rhythm Laboratory are also included in the summer school program. They give young artists and students an opportunity to expand their performance possibilities through courses that complement the professional training program. These workshops give students an opportunity to explore other living arts.

!!! Dance professionals can benefit from exclusive packages this summer. Find out the details here.
